Good morning! I heard from j late last night. They had a fabulous day yesterday and are gearing up for their last work day today. Yesterday morning consisted of more of the same type of work on the house and around the school. Yesterday afternoon was their "free time." The team went to Wahoo Bay for some fun in the sun. They swam, snorkeled and just had a blast relaxing together. They deserved it for sure. Last night they ate a traditional Haitian dinner. From what I hear, it was quite spicy but delicious. Please continue to keep our friends in your prayers. Pray for their strength as they have worked so hard physically. It has been an incredibly heart breaking trip in a lot of ways to see so many people lost, hurting and in such despair. And at the same time, such an encoragement to see so many people that to us would appear to have no hope but instead have found "The Hope" in a relationship with Jesus. It has been a humbling experience for our group. Pray for them emotionally as they leave this place they love. Pray for traveling mercies as they head home tomorrow. Please pray for the group as they get back to "the real world" in Hattiesburg. And finally, that their experiences in Haiti will forever change their lives for the glory of the kingdom.

Have a great day!

Hey friends. Another busy day in Haiti is winding down. The team had an incredible day and said they can not wait to share a ton of stories about what God is doing in the lives of the Haitian people as well as what God is doing in each of their own lives. J said it has been extremely powerful and has really helped some people "get it." The group went to a tent city that was set up by Samaritan's Purse. Melissa, Jake, and Lauren helped at a medical clinic. Gifts were passed out door to door. The foundation was finished up for one of the houses being built. It started raining today and it has rained a lot. Hopefully it will not cause any trouble for their work in the morning. Tomorrow afternoon is the team's "fun" time at the beach. Please continue to keep our friends in your prayers and they are the hands and feet of Jesus in Haiti as they work and as they play.

Tuesday in Haiti

Hello again! Our friends in Haiti have had another jammed packed day of work. The group broke up into several teams today in order to meet a variety of needs. Melissa, Brett, and Mark led a team that did basic medical exams for a large number of people including 75 students from the Guitton school. J took a team out to do "door to door" ministry. They were able to visit with a lot of people. He said that many that they spoke with came to know the Lord after the earthquake and many others attend the church nearby. God is doing some amazing things in the hearts of these people! Another group completed a variety of manual labor projects and painting at the house that HUMC sponsored. Tomorrow the team will be heading to a tent city to do evangelism. Please pray that God's love will be shown and people will come to know Him through our friends. May Jesus be glorified in everything that our team does in Haiti and we do at home!!!

Until tomorrow,
Wesley

Another Great Day

Hello friends. The team had an incredible day today. J said that they did lots of things to keep busy but it is hard to describe with words. They did everything from moving cinder blocks to painting the school to a whole lot of loving on kids. There is no doubt that they are making a difference. J said that he wanted to make sure that I let you know how awesome this group of people is...I know you already knew that though. He said they are all working so hard and have super attitudes. Please pray that this continues throughout the rest of the week. Also pray for the team tomorrow as some will set out to do some street evangelism. This will be an excellent opportunity for these guys and girls to step out of their comfort zones and really share about what Jesus has done in their lives. Pray that their stories are well received. I cant wait to hear how God uses our friends to show the Haitian people His love!!!!

Talk to you soon,
Wesley

Sunday's Activities

I just got a call from J with today's highlights. They have had an incredible day which started off bright and early at 4:30 am with a friendly, next door neighbor rooster giving an early wake up call...oops. Oh well, the group attended church today with about 750 people. J said it was an unbelievable experience that we will all be hearing more about when they come home. The group sang "Trading My Sorrows" during the service. J, Jake and Walton played along with them as they sang. J said the team has adopted the "Yes Lord, Yes Lord, Yes Yes Lord" attitude this trip as their motto. (An attitude we all should probably strive more to have!) After church, the team was able to visit at the orphanage with some precious children. I am pretty jealous because they got to meet the children that have been sponsored this year by members of our church family. How AWESOME is that? I can not wait to hear ALL about this when they get back!!! J said that tomorrow will be the start of their "work" as they will help to build a house and do some other handy-man type projects. I will update tomorrow with the details of how that goes. J asked that you continue to pray for safety, health, and hydration. He said it is hot, but not as hot as it is here thanks to a nice breeze. =)

Until tomorrow,
Wesley
